South Korean singer, songwriter, and producer Woozi rose to fame in the latter half of the 2010s as a member of the popular boy band <a href="spotify:artist:7nqOGRxlXj7N2JYbgNEjYH">Seventeen</a>. Within the self-producing 13-member group, Woozi quickly established himself as one of its primary producers and songwriters while also collaborating with outside artists like <a href="spotify:artist:3uGFTJ7JMllvhgGpumieHF">Ailee</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6RKnXXyprPjhBdCvL802Ku">I.O.I</a>. After making his solo debut with a contribution to the television soundtrack for The Tale of Nokdu, he released his first mixtape, Ruby, in 2022.
Born Lee Ji-Hoon on November 22, 1996 in the city of Busan, he took on the stage name Woozi when he began his professional music career in 2015. After putting together the Pledis Entertainment company, he became a member of the large boy band <a href="spotify:artist:7nqOGRxlXj7N2JYbgNEjYH">Seventeen</a>. Previously part of a television show called The Seventeen Project, <a href="spotify:artist:7nqOGRxlXj7N2JYbgNEjYH">Seventeen</a> made their debut in 2015. In addition to singing and dancing, Woozi and bandmate <a href="spotify:artist:4FCneqQd4xiPXKOa6poPIf">Bumzu</a> became the group's primary producers. Woozi's first foray into solo work came in 2019 when he contributed the song "Miracle" to the television series The Tale of Nokdu. Returning to work with <a href="spotify:artist:7nqOGRxlXj7N2JYbgNEjYH">Seventeen</a>, he was heavily involved with their 2021 EP Attacca and became the youngest-ever recipient of the Best Producer Award at the Asia Artist Awards.
