<a href="spotify:album:4MG4VukBpHIA6G5GSOPkug" data-name="Hold Your Nerve">Hold Your Nerve</a> OUT NOW!!
We are WYRES - a melodic punk rock four-piece from Manchester with serious Myspace-era vibes.
Formed at the worst time in history to start a band (March 2020), song ideas flew back and forth over WhatsApp during lockdown - with 24 home-recorded demos emerging a few months later.
The aim was to capture a sound that's melodic at heart while still raw around the edges - in the vein of <a href="spotify:artist:4dmaYARGTCpChLhHBdr3ff" data-name="Hot Water Music">Hot Water Music</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6Wr3hh341P84m3EI8qdn9O" data-name="Rise Against">Rise Against</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:1aEYCT7t18aM3VvM6y8oVR" data-name="Alkaline Trio">Alkaline Trio</a>.
Founded by former members of <a href="spotify:artist:2I1KJtSBQdb0GAUVbiAlqI" data-name="Failsafe">Failsafe</a>, it's no surprise WYRES' sound captures an element of nostalgia - harking back to the glory days of Myspace and Napster when that band came of age.
January 2022 saw WYRES begin releasing material recorded between 16 months of lockdown chaos. Supporting live dates followed with the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:0qyNkAVhhlJ4DvfYypl1Bb" data-name="Random Hand">Random Hand</a>, [spunge], <a href="spotify:artist:3ccF37QB6LC4LqUfvtn5qb" data-name="Sonic Boom Six">Sonic Boom Six</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2GcFuBRnCRHhOFW4ejfcRg" data-name="Millie Manders and the Shutup">Millie Manders and the Shutup</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:5ZV8lDOPUCh9tzkSQBVarI" data-name="The Menstrual Cramps">The Menstrual Cramps</a>. And on 6th Oct 2023, WYRES finally released their long-awaited debut album <a href="spotify:album:4Vb6peIk5288phVlQeXCFc" data-name="Nothing Like Your Idols">Nothing Like Your Idols</a>.
