After taking a hiatus from playing music with Johnny Void and the Others and stepping away from The Green Goblyn Project , Johnny Void went on to create X-Ray Youth in the spring of ’97. But X-Ray Youth was not a continuation of his hardcore punk roots, nor was it a follow-up of the morbid musings of The GGP; with a new musical direction and new bandmates, Johnny Void went a different route musically, losing his explicit lyrics for a sound with more rock sensibility. Originally a two piece with bassist Ryan Johansen, it wasn’t until November of ‘97 that they solidified the lineup with drummer Derrick Haggerty, until they disbanded in August of 1998.

Johnny Void went on to form Anselmo and Dethhaus.

With the advent of new technologies, in September/October of 2020, the X-Ray Youth catalogue was acquired by Rakka Rakka Records and remastered by Johnny Void at Room 101 to his original vision.
