The legendary Senegalese group Xalam2 is back in the spotlight with a highly-anticipated new EP. Leading figures in contemporary African music, these afro-jazz pioneers have forged a sound universe of unprecedented originality over the years. An unrivalled musical singularity : Drawing on the deep roots of Senegal's rich cultural heritage, Xalam2 have created a unique musical style, subtly blending the frenzied rhythms of mbalax with the influences of jazz and traditional African music. Their explosive compositions, with their fiery rhythmic intensity, are the result of a demanding journey of research into the heart of the country's different ethnic groups. Exploring without limits the rhythmic possibilities of traditional instruments, they have revolutionized codes with an ever-evolving hybrid sound. Incredible hits in african languages have been born, driven by a passionate generosity on stage. Xalam2 has played with many Western artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and the Rolling Stones. They have won acclaim for their innovative music in Europe, winning a prize at the Berlin Jazz Festival in 1979, and in Africa, with successful tours playing on the biggest stages (Woodstock, Francofolies, Apartheid,...) Walt Disney Productions called on them for a film devoted to African music, then for the soundtrack of the African Pavilion at Epcot in Florida. Xalam2 also contributed to the soundtrack of Michel Blanc's cult film "Marche à l'Ombre".
