Yelfris Valdés is a Cuban artist, composer, and trumpet player, who mixes the latest electronic techniques with the spiritual chants and mystic rhythms from the Orishas. He started to study music at a very early age and he graduated from the National Conservatory of Arts in 2008. Having worked as a professional musician since he was 16, Yelfris has toured around the world playing in the main stages and jazz and world music festivals with names such as: Kano mc, Yussef Kamaal, Roberto Fonseca, Dayme Arocena, The Moroccan diva OUM, Charlie Hunter, Quantic, the acclaimed project Afrocubism just to name a few. He was Grammy nominated with the renowned Cuban legends Sierra Maestra band. This eclectic mix of different cultures and rhythms has made Yelfris a very versatile musician with a wide spectrum of sounds and musicality.
Valdes released his last solo album, The World of Eshu Dina, in 2018.
Aceleyo Aña is the first single from his forthcoming album For the Ones. “Aceleyo Aña” takes the listener on a journey to the origins of his Afro Cuban traditions, using the trumpet to evoke subculture, diaspora, and the occultism of Yoruba religion with powerful and mystic rhythms.
