The haunting sounds of internationally renowned Icelandic folk duo, Ylja, are driven by the powerful harmonic vocals of Guðný Gígja Skjaldardóttir and Bjartey Sveinsdóttir, who met in their high school choir in 2008 and have been soulmates ever since. Now, in 2024, following the success of their three albums, appearances at home in Iceland & on the world stage and with a host of nominations at the Icelandic Music awards, Ylja holds a prominent place in the Icelandic music scene.
The duo have found their home in Icelandic folk music and work tirelessly with folklorists, producers and Iceland‘s finest musicians to create new material for the future.
