Manuel Heredia was born in 1996, Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Since his early childhood and influenced by his brothers, he began to be interested in electronic music. More precisely in producers like Daft Punk, David Guetta, Modjo among other producers.

In 2013, Manuel released his first track as an artist name, Manustep. Showing a fanaticism to the Dubstep genre and all derivatives to Bass Music. One of his first songs was "Fly Away". Showing influences with Skrillex.
Manustep released his first EP album in 2016 titled "Tokyo Noise EP".
That same year Manustep leaves the Dubstep scene.

In 2017 he meets Future Funk and Vaporwave. Which called his attention to this one. In the following weeks Manuel stopped being Manustep and became what we all know. Zai Kowen.

He released his first album, together with the artist critical_grim, called "Sunshine Miami". A Vaporwave and Vaporfunk EP.

His debut solo album was "Paradise Vinyl". Zai Kowen worked on releases on labels such as Neoncity Records, Business Casual, Neo Motel and Record Club. In recent times Zai Kowen has been experimenting with genres such as Future Funk, Nu Disco and French House, without straying too far from the aesthetic he has been carrying since Zai's inception.
