They command particular respect among musicians and are legendary figures as a true alternative rock band active since the 90s. Over their 30+ years active, they have released 12 albums. In 2025, they will release their first new album in nine years, “@UMA LAND,” via Zbon-sya /P572.
Apart from leader DON Matsuo (Vocals, Guitar) and Matta (Keyboards, Artwork), the band's lineup has undergone repeated changes (past members include Zazen Boys' Atsushi Matsushita and Nothing's Carved In Stone's Takaki Okita a.k.a. Pocky. )While activity stopped after the COVID pandemic, they released a best-of album via Canadian label P572 in 2024, marking their 30th anniversary. New members include Reo Saigusa on bass and Gak Ouchi (Hedigans, ex-Glim Spanky) on drums, elevating their flexible and funky performances. Many fans acknowledge the current lineup as the best in the band's history.
With this new rhythm section, DON Matsuo wrote new songs continuously, recording them from July to August 2024. Mixed by Jean-Michel Dumas (Ajax!, Bataclan, La Police) in Montreal, Canada. The new album “UMA LAND” perfectly captures the dynamic energy and weight characteristic of Zoobombs’ music.
