Zvijer

ZVIJER (eng. "Beast") was born in 2013, in Banja Luka, Bosnia. From the very beginning, the band started enriching their music with lyrics about dark Balkanian folklore and funeral customs from Balkan's territories. Hence, Zvijer labelled their sound as "Balkanian Barbaric Black Metal". On the first album "Vječnost Truleži" (eng. Eternity of Decay), the band paid tribute to the second wave of Norwegian black metal, which greatly inspired the beginnings of the Zvijer.

With the evolution in the band's lyrics, which were initially inspired by Death as the only absolute end of our flesh, the band increasingly moved to themes such as Balkan dark folklore in which Night, as a part of a day, stands as an absolute cult. Naturally, with the development of the lyrics towards a greater atavistic approach, music also developed itself into a more complex living and breathing organism. The sound of the Zvijer becomes more concentrated and furious.

Zvijer has two constant members: Knjaz as a founding member and from 2016, Insanus, one of the founding fathers of black metal on the ex-Yugoslavian territory. He is the founder and guitarist of the legendary Croatian vampiric black metal band, Castrum. Going through the years with frequent changes in the line-up of the band, in the end, a decision was made that Zvijer consists only of Insanus and Knjaz who are the main driving force behind the concept and idea of the band, with the addition of session members for live performances.
