Known by his stage name 38, started rapping in the mid 90’s after being influenced by Soul Singer Pattie Labell’s “Somebody Loves You”. Despite the unorthodox influence, 38 used the song as an Segway into hip hop after seeing death and dismay living in some of Memphis’ oldest and most dangerous neighborhoods often times turning to thieving or selling drugs as a kid to make ends. 38’s Most influential hip hop roots come from local Memphis artist such Three 6 mafia, Playa Fly, Gangsta Black, Eight-Ball & MJG.
