Adhesive was formed in Katrineholm, Sweden, in May 1994. The band gained much notariety in Sweden, some parts of Europe, and Canada. They were known for their left-wing political lyrics and vocal harmonies, the latter being much more prevalent in their early material. After "Sideburner" the band took a musical turn. While still playing skate-punk, they went for more of an edgy feel, with thrashier riffs, less melodic melodies (screaming was introduced to vocal lines), and the use of less vocal harmonization. They disbanded in July 2002 after three albums, some EP's and having toured Europe three times and Canada twice.

In 2017, the band reunited to play for charity. They started a fundraiser donating the profits made from touring to Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). They played their last show in their hometown of Katrineholm, on September 1st, 2018.
