Agony by Default

Agony by Default is a solo studio project from WY musician and engineer Matthew Brammer. AbD originally began as a melodic deathcore/deathgrind project in early 2013, but changed gears quickly and became predominantly known for its unique blend of melodic and blackened death metal with a wide variety of influences. By 2020, Agony by Default finally shifted fully to melodic black metal.

Brammer is a native of Wyoming, USA. He attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona for Audio Engineering and Music Business.

Agony By Default is primarily a solo project, with Brammer handling all vocal and instrumental duties. The project is independent and and self-produced, with the exception of 2021's "A Serenade For Eternity" (produced by Johnny Dove of Everdying/Voice of the Soul Studios).
