Αἲτιοn started as a collaboration project between Helsinki based producer Lasse Lindgren, a member of post-jazz group <a href="spotify:artist:0gS6uGPBcz4l9JKbpth6o8" data-name="Oddarrang">Oddarrang</a>, and vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:4muZipXv8LUQ4iw6URxAKK" data-name="Aino Peltomaa">Aino Peltomaa</a>, specialised in medieval music (<a href="spotify:artist:0wM3VJ8L1LuY2YpLFpIQve" data-name="Ensemble Gamut!">Ensemble Gamut!</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0dEBSFaAUUiR8tkTRAmgnU" data-name="Harmony of the Spheres">Harmony of the Spheres</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4dibtf22nV3LYG95Eu5Ayz" data-name="Kaamos">Kaamos</a>). On its second release, <a href="spotify:album:54eNHcZtWaCS3QoDGfInEf" data-name="APOPHTHEGMATA I Bessarion">APOPHTHEGMATA I Bessarion</a>, Αἲτιοn collaborates with <a href="spotify:artist:4muZipXv8LUQ4iw6URxAKK" data-name="Aino Peltomaa">Aino Peltomaa</a> (voc, medieval harp) and <a href="spotify:artist:3hpjGBPJQd993V8ZSrZWNH" data-name="Anna-Maaria Oramo">Anna-Maaria Oramo</a> (voc, clavicimbalum). <a href="spotify:artist:73b9SEQt5FX1s4EEJXg0fW" data-name="Aition">Aition</a>´s latest album, <a href="spotify:album:3XF6xohD7Cmo8Qznb4zRdT" data-name="APOPHTHEGMATA II Syncletica">APOPHTHEGMATA II Syncletica</a>, presents a full medieval ensemble with <a href="spotify:artist:5R78HSRsgHoW9ynCK4ZYaN" data-name="Eira Karlson">Eira Karlson</a> (voc, medieval fiddle) and <a href="spotify:artist:6R6qghTNMP2nkfJNkrg5DF" data-name="Susanna Tollet">Susanna Tollet</a> (voc, hurdy gurdy).

The APOPHTHEGMATA is a series of album releases focusing on the texts of the Apophthegmata Patrum, a collection of sayings and narratives of the Desert Fathers and Mothers, hermit ascetics who settled to live solitary life in harsh conditions of the Egyptian desert from the 3rd century AD onwards.

Part I of the APOPHTHEGMATA series celebrates the legacy of Abba Bessarion, who was said to have been living without possessions in open air like a wild animal, being exposed to the scorching heat of the desert sun.
The 2nd edition of the series celebrates the Desert Mothers, the female ascetics.

Αἲτιοn combines ancient and modern influences in a unique way, combining the sounds of early instruments with ethereal ambient soundscapes. Αἲτιοn´s music opens up pathways for the listener to a dimension far back in the dawn of time, and takes him back through the ages of history.
