Alecs DeLarge

Producer and rapper Alecs DeLarge has been pressing buttons on a sampler since Freddos were 10p, combining boom bap sensibilities with everything from bugged out psychedelia to smoky R&B.

Hailing from sunny Sheffield, Alecs spent his formative years sharpening his skills in youth clubs, pirate radio and local stages, before making the move to Bristol. Becoming active in the lo-fi beat scene, he released several underground EPs until reaching international renown with his projects, <a href="spotify:album:5KRrPVHr20QHsW9ESuPpU6" data-name="S950 Bumps">S950 Bumps</a> and <a href="spotify:album:572j7UkzztCJldWJEuFFCf" data-name="Astro Livin">Astro Livin</a>

In 2023, Alecs joined the High Focus Records roster after linking with UK heavyweight <a href="spotify:artist:3rpW7BnYppUUZnkL5zTfRb" data-name="King Kashmere">King Kashmere</a> for a pair of singles <a href="spotify:track:4r3dKClSkWfbzmIBx6wsDB" data-name="Soul Calibur">Soul Calibur</a> and <a href="spotify:album:4mDiZl3vrrxXidhFgwRIz8" data-name="North Star">North Star</a>, culminating with their long awaited joint LP <a href="spotify:album:2vIM3HpD5xSajHcWeEvv9B" data-name="The Album To End All Alien Abductions">The Album To End All Alien Abductions</a>. Featuring some of <a href="spotify:artist:3rpW7BnYppUUZnkL5zTfRb" data-name="King Kashmere">King Kashmere</a>’s most visceral writing to date atop Alecs’ eclectic production, the pair made a forward thinking and timeless album whilst staying true to their roots as Hip Hop nerds.

Not content with resting on his laurels, Alecs quickly followed with his self produced debut rap album - <a href="spotify:album:5BWcIZXjeKMtSt8MEG9kI5" data-name="Alecs in Wonderland">Alecs in Wonderland</a>. Written during a year of hedonistic isolation, the album showcased Alecs’ skills both as a producer and on the microphone. Drawing from <a href="spotify:artist:1rJkz5vopfGxTUGFNB3o4G" data-name="Quasimoto">Quasimoto</a>’s anything goes approach, Wonderland is a smorgasbord of cartoonish braggadocio and stream-of-consciousness raps, VHS samples, 80’s pop, diced up jazz and private-press oddities, all fused together in his true love - the MPC 2000 (see <a href="spotify:track:6ih7b6yynHqCAsarB3BrS5" data-name="Girl Joint">Girl Joint</a> ).
