After retiring his project Dirty Beaches, Zhang furthered focusing his pursuit of improvised music, Free Jazz, and explorations with different instrumentations. With works ranging from: saxophone, synthesizers, percussion and piano, furthering his research on ritualistic music of liminality and it's relation to the unconscious mind. Zhang currently works as a composer for film soundtracks, along with acting in independent films. He lives in New York City.
