Saxophonist and composer Alon Farber is one of the leading jazz musicians in the Israeli jazz scene, now rereleasing his sixth album with his band, the "Alon Farber Hagiga", on Origin Records. (3rd album on that label!)
Alon's style is very unique and innovative and combines rich harmonies with intricate contrapuntal writing.
As a wind player Alon has great sensitivity for writing for horns.
Alon claims that he has been influenced by great artists such as Wayne Shorter, Dave Douglas and Ornette Coleman.
Alon has collaborated along the years with well-established Jazz artists such as Kim Nelley, Dave Douglas, Eli Degibri, Avishai Cohen (trp), Anat Cohen, Omri Mor, Tom Oren, Amit Friedman, Omer Klein and many more.
Alon graduated from Berklee College of music, majoring in Jazz Composition (with excellence). He received the Wayne Shorter award (1998) and the Sadao Watanobe award (1998). In addition Alon is the winner of the Israeli Prime Minister Award for Jazz composers (2016).
Alon is the founder of the Alon Farber Hagiga ensemble , which was established in 2001
"Hagiga" has released 6 albums in major Jazz labels: "Origin Records" (Seattle) "Fresh Sound" (Barcelona) and "QFTF" (Berlin)
Alon's new 6th album "Dreams I Dream" (on Origin Records) got very anthusiastics reviews including a great review in Down Beat
Alon is also one of the founders of the Israeli Jazz Orchestra (established 2003) where he functions are lead saxophone player, composer and arranger
