Alper Tuzcu is a composer and producer who bridges cultures, crafting musical mosaics that are both intimate and expansive. From an early age, he was fascinated by geography, languages, and cultures, and music became his way of exploring them. With so many musical traditions to discover, he was never drawn to just one style. His work is always evolving, shaped by new sounds and experiences.
His journey into music wasn’t straightforward. After studying economics and almost starting a corporate career, he made the decision to leave that path behind and fully dedicate himself to music. He earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, later returning as a professor, a full-circle experience of learning, creating, and teaching.
Tuzcu’s work has been recorded by Grammy-winning musicians like Marcelo Woloski (Snarky Puppy), Ganavya (Esperanza Spalding), Maria Rodés, and Javier Limón (Paco de Lucía) and featured on NPR, BBC Radio, RTVé, and more. His 2021 EP Raíz was named one of the Top 10 EPs of the Year by NPR’s The Latin Alt HD3.
He has performed at festivals and venues across the world, from Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy) to Shapeshifter Lab (New York). A Berklee College of Music graduate (Magna Cum Laude, 2015), he became one of the youngest voting members of the GRAMMY Awards and Latin GRAMMYs.
Through every composition, Tuzcu explores new perspectives, revisits old influences, and continuously reshapes his sound, always seeking new ways to connect and create.
