b. Al Trivette, Rosemonte, California, USA. As well as being the initials of his name, ALT also stands for ‘Another Latin Timebomb’. Having been raised in Rosemonte, four miles east of Los Angeles, he witnessed at first hand the problems that drugs and violence had caused the Latin community. He was quickly picked up by a major label, keen to capitalize on hardcore street rap, but unwilling to allow it free reign. His debut album was hampered by instructions not to use foul language, and a parting of the ways followed soon after. Linking instead with the Inner City independent, he previewed his second set with ‘Riding’ High’, a diary of a day in the Latin neighbourhood.
