Chilean singer and songwriter Alvaro Scaramelli started to learn how to play guitar and piano when he was a teenager, improving his knowledge and skills when he studied music during his college years. In 1984, Scaramelli started composing his own music, forming a Latin pop/rock band called Cinema, singing and playing keyboards. After signing up to RCA in 1985, Cinema's single "Y Tú No Estas" came out, followed by a live album called Cinema En Directo. After touring Chile, the band moved to Buenos Aires to make Locos Rayados. Due to internal discrepancies, Cinema broke up in 1987, compelling Alvaro Scaramelli to start his solo career, debuting with Mi Tiempo Interior. In 1988, the artist participated in Viña del Mar's Festival, a major Latin music event which earlier had Cinema as one of its main numbers. By the end of the 1980s, the singer moved from RCA to CBS, releasing Espejo Encantado in 1989 with the hit single "No Estoy En Paris." In 1994, Cinema was reunited temporarily to release a self-titled album. A new record deal came in 1998, this time from Warner Music. Under that new contract, Scaramelli recorded Canciones Para La Memoria. Later he recorded a live album called Tiempos Buenos En Vivo, issued in April of 2000. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
