Chilean singer/songwriter Juan Antonio Labra started getting involved in show business by the early '80s, having the opportunity to consolidate his career while participating at Viña del Mar's Festival, getting the Most Popular and Best Performer awards. One of his major achievements came in 1983 when the singer moved to Japan to participate in Tokyo's Festival, having the honor of being one of its finalists. Labra's dancing and singing skills allowed the artist to get a record deal, releasing a self-titled album in 1987, followed by 1989's Soy Latino. That same year, the Chilean Association of Journalists (APES) awarded him for his indubitable talent. In 1991, America Morena was issued. A year later, the U.S. Network Univisión mentioned him as the most promising Chilean singer. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
