An Odyssey to the End

Established December 16, 2022, An Odyssey to the End is a South Florida based metal band founded by primary songwriter and composer, James Whelan (guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards). Being in collaboration with many musicians from the diverse backgrounds of Miami, the creation of a unique sound not typically present in the genre’s norm was formed and fully embraced. The band’s music stems from influences deeply rooted in multiple genres of the metal world, blending elements from Death, Black, and Progressive Metal, as well as some further influence from Psychedelic Rock, Post-Rock, and Shoegaze. The band gives equal importance to the beauty and brutality music can be comprised of, reflecting the dynamic and ever-changing nature of human life. Using melodic elegance, crushing instrumental prowess, and a lush, full soundscape as our sonic medium, themes of universally experienced emotions and ideas are explored.
