The band began as a trio from Northern Ireland called The Method, changing their name to 'Andwellas Dream' after moving to London in 1969. The original line-up consisted of Dave Lewis (songwriter, guitar, Hammond organ and lead vocals), Nigel Smith (bass and vocals) and Wilgar Campbell on drums, later replaced by Gordon Barton. After the band's debut album ‘Love and Poetry’ (CBS, 1969) they shortened their name to Andwella and released two more albums, World's End (1970) and People's People (1971).

Love and Poetry captures the true essence of the era - creativity, musical innovation, as well psychedelia and flower power. Although it never set the charts on fire at the time, this album has achieved certain cult status after 50 years and is eagerly sought after by collectors of the genre. It is featured in Record Collector's 100 Greatest Psychedelic Records of the 1960s.

"Love and Poetry still holds its head high today." - Terri Hooley (founder of the ‘Good Vibrations’ record label).

"Dave Lewis is a visionary, a poet and the world's greatest undiscovered songwriting talent." - Andrew Cameron Miller (Concert promoter and founder of Reflection Records).
