Anilah is the solo project of Canadian vocalist and musician Andrea Drury. Her work explores the intersection between music, art, and ritual as a form of transformational medicine.
For the first 18 years of her life, she lived in a rural village in the interior of BC, Canada. During her early years as a singer-songwriter, she mentored under the late Ali Akbar Khan, who taught her the power of sound as a form of medicine. It is in the spirit of this ancient tradition that she continues to compose music.
Since the release of Anilah’s first EP “Warrior” in 2014, Andrea has been fascinated with the healing potential of sound and music. This curiosity eventually led her to become a contributing artist for "Wavepaths", a music app created by Brian Eno and Mendel Kaelen for psychedelic therapy.
In 2015, Anilah collaborated with Einar Selvik (<a href="spotify:artist:0NJ6wlOAsAJ1PN4VRdTPKA" data-name="Wardruna">Wardruna</a>) to create a revised version of her title track “Warrior," followed by another full length album called "Chrysalis" in 2021. She now continues to experiment with writing music that revolves around live recorded vocal layers, acoustic instrumentation, and hypnotic compositions. Her work has been featured on History Chanel series "Vikings" and CBC series "New Eden".
