Animal Sun is one of the newest and most exciting Alternative Rock artists emerging out of Los Angeles in 2024. Also known as Sara Blake, she began her career by playing small clubs up and down the East Coast with her brother before making the move to LA in 2018. The name Animal "Sun" was in dedication to her late friend James Sun, who's life was cut tragically short in 2011. Blake released her first official single in 2019 titled 'girl in blue' and was immediately met overwhelming praise from the likes of KROQ, Alt Press, Music Connection, and idobi Radio. The single picking up a fanbase so quickly set the stage for her debut album 'echoes of a dream' to be recorded during the pandemic, and finally released on June, 11th 2021.
The alternative, 80's inspired soundscape generated over 10 millions streams within just a few months of its release along spawning seven national US tours with artists such as Kelsy Karter & The Heroines and Anarbor. Animal Sun followed up her initial success with a Sophomore album titled GENERATION WAITING on July 27th, 2022. Not only did the album features from Alternative legends such as DREAMERS, but it received even higher critical reception than its predecessor. This lead Blake to being nominated, and winning, "Rock/Pop Song Of The Year" at this year's Hollywood Independent Music Awards.
The new two part album titled 'Life Among Machines' was released in November, 2023. The future for Animal Sun has never been brighter.
