The ANIMANZ & JUANITA EUKA safari has been adventuring for a decade now, fuelled by body-popping funk raves, basement-cumbia bailars and psych-rock festivals. Raising pulses at dance-thriller shows in residency performances and special events throughout Europe.
From the outset of their debut double A side single,
‘No Future / Killa Housewife From Outta Space’ [2013 musical dojo records] these primal cats held the focus; capturing the spirit and ferocity on record and abounding the power on stage.
2018 saw the surf drenched, fuzzed out debut album ‘Exotic Other’ [tru thoughts records]. The album; “a head-bang to the contradictions of modern living and a booty-shake to the eternal banishing force of joy”... was well received in psych DJ circuits and BBC6 radio; The success of which, tuned Animanz to further hone their hips, licks and tricks on dance floors and ritualistic party places of the continent, Including support shows with their hero's Lee Scratch Perry and Alice Russell.
And then lockdown called off the hunt. Just before that intangible, mystic beast could be sighted, so Animanz made merriment with their regular Christmas studio party, this time round with an old friend, Poly6. The party spilled over into a new single ‘Jingle Bell Rock’. FFW
2023... Now reformed and re imagined, undergone serious surrealist inspiration post touring Animanz returned to the studio and laid down some of their deepest cuts to date (Weekenders).
