AA! was created after a concert by Siouxsie & The Banshees who played in AB in the spring of 1981. "We can do that too, can't we?" said frontman Marcel Vanthilt, who was already wearing glasses at the time. And so it happened. Their first two singles were immediately hit: 'Ik Sta Scherp' (from '81 that appeared on the label with the name 'Wereldrekord Nummer Eén') and 'De dag dat het zonlicht niet meer scheen' ('82), a parody of John Terra's song of the same name that caused quite a bit of controversy.
