ARGYLE, a Scottish musician with Indian roots, moved to Switzerland at the age of 18 with nothing but a guitar. His songs, carried by his unmistakably raw yet velvety voice, blend the cinematic power of a Bond soundtrack with the emotional depth and storytelling of artists like Hozier, Adele, or Paolo Nutini. On his latest EP "Playgrounds in Ruins", Argyle reflects on new beginnings and vulnerability, on inner battles and the search for a place in the world.
He first cut his teeth as a busker in cities across Europe. Before long, his growing repertoire led him into the studio; in 2022, ARGYLE released his debut EP "Waves" and quickly secured a string of major festival bookings across Switzerland, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. This was followed by collaborations and features with Swiss artists such as Stress, Chiara Castelli, Marius Bear and Remo Forrer (Watergun).
While Waves charted the turbulent tides of the young artist’s life, ARGYLE’s second EP Playgrounds in Ruins looks back to his childhood and offers both musical and visual glimpses into a part of Scotland marked by neglect and hopelessness. With Playgrounds in Ruins, ARGYLE tells stories of childhood innocence set against a crumbling world – always aware that his own pain is not only personal, but part of a collective human experience. Now more mature as both an artist and a person, ARGYLE reflects on themes such as racism, power, addiction and depression.
