<a href="spotify:artist:1aCZzByicOHcS6WpNPwqXV" data-name="Astrid Engberg">Astrid Engberg</a> is a Danish singer, producer, composer and DJ based in Copenhagen. Spanning contemporary soul, R&B, nu jazz, and modern classical, Astrid invites the listener into a universe of both minimalistic and heavy productions, personal stories and spiritual quest. An enchanting voice expressing both a sincere sensitivity and deep strength.
“The reason I make music is because it’s my best language,” Astrid candidly states, while adding that singing brought her a sense of being at home. In her debut album <a href="spotify:album:2sKubvKCIQTnoLJDysvG3Y" data-name="Tulpa">Tulpa</a>, which Bandcamp Daily listed as one of its Best albums of 2020 and brought national acclaim with winning Best Vocal Release of The Year from DMA Jazz, she was able to give words to her mental and physical recovery from a head injury in her young adulthood which still impacts her everyday life over a decade later.
Her second album Trust finds Astrid paying tribute to intuition and new motherhood. The LP sees her collaborating with a line-up of Nordic talent, such as <a href="spotify:artist:4A5Vrt5A17Y2Pc5bDT6JT8" data-name="Maria Dybbroe">Maria Dybbroe</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:60qX0LHYPPka2fkSsGhcsx" data-name="Tobias Wiklund">Tobias Wiklund</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1PcRkI1gwX2uUYQcuTIjUr" data-name="J. Ludvig III">J. Ludvig III</a>, as well as Los Angeles-based <a href="spotify:artist:6SlLXvZvYEGnurxBUpUdri" data-name="Miguel Atwood-Ferguson">Miguel Atwood-Ferguson</a>, a venerated multi-instrumentalist, conductor and composer. Taking form after the birth of her first child, the album was created with playful joy, openness, and gratitude over a nine-month period.
