Bad Breeding, the Stevenage-based hardcore unit, are set to release their fifth album ‘Contempt’ on June 14th. It explores the continued effects that austerity has had on the working public and specifically capital’s destruction of the planet and its inhabitants.
Bad Breeding comprise of Christopher Dodd (vocals), Idris Mirza (guitar), Charlie Rose (bass), and Jimmy Guvercin (drums). They draw influence from the original British pioneers of the anarcho-punk scene; Crass, Rudimentary Peni, and Flux of Pink Indians. They formed in 2013 and their first release, ‘Burn This Flag’, came the following year via HateHateHate Records. 2014 saw them move away from labels and self-release their second single, ‘Chains’, selling it via online auction sites. Their eponymous debut album was self-released in April 2016. In 2017, Bad Breeding linked up with punk label La Vida Es Un Mus and Iron Lung for ‘Divide’.
Continuing with their relentless touring schedule, the group rolled into 2018 with the announcement that they had signed to One Little Independent, set up by members of various first-wave anarcho-punk bands. Bad Breeding delivered their EP, ‘Abandonment’. This was followed by ‘Exiled’ in 2019 and ‘Human Capital’ in 2022, which all saw praise from audiences and critics alike.
Utilizing a mix of propulsive rhythm and furious, explosive guitars to maximum effect, Bad Breeding have weaponised their anger in the fight for survival.
