Bangkutaman, taken from Bahasa Indonesia with the meaning of “park bench,” was originally formed in 1999, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The trio consist of Wahyu Acum Nugroho (guitar, vocal), Madava Nanda (Bass) and Christo Putra (drums).
Bangkutaman has encountered few transformations in its musical influences, collaborates sounds from the 60’s and 70’s British folk-rock to American country/power pop/rock
The band is claiming to play psychedelic folk rock genre, which is strongly reflected in the band’s second album <a href="spotify:album:00c4Anc1uWsQCVijdCTJwB" data-name="Ode Buat Kota">Ode Buat Kota</a> (2010). The album has received national recognition and made Bangkutaman as “most respected band”. Indonesian Rolling Stone Magazine put acclaim on this album as number 1 from the top 20 albums in 2010. Five years later, the album re-released in vinyl records, the total 350 copies were sold in not longer than 5 days.
2016 they released their fourth EP <a href="spotify:album:72T0B039M5G8ctxN0rgsxj" data-name="Rileks">Rileks</a> with single <a href="spotify:album:4GxCIHvASwlOu89lXJv2Ql" data-name="Pekerja">Pekerja</a>. The only 300 cassettes release is sold out in 2 days. In 2020, the band then signed with Palm House Records and promoting their new single called <a href="spotify:album:1tiqNeVz8MOC0YBF8p58wW" data-name="Dinamika">Dinamika</a>. The third studio album, Dinamika has been released under Demajors, available at CD's & digital.
