Battle Bloom

Battle Bloom is a curious concoction of bittersweet stories, quirky wordplay, along with a cross of accidental lullabies and rocking guitar solos—all carrying the weight of songs that revolve around life, love, and love lost.

Melissa Toh (Vocals), Fariz Salleh (Guitar), Dianne Lim (Keyboard and Vocals) and Ryan Lee Bhaskaran (Drums and Percussions) combine sounds from their collective influences—a brew of pop and folk with a dash of metal and rock—to fuse together music that’s not unlike a strong yet comforting cup of chai.

The band also explores the element of story-telling in a wide spectrum. Whether it’s setting up the stage to resemble a full-on theatrical act for their debut album launch or getting out of their comfort zones to learn a dance sequence to film one of their music videos, they’re always up to play around with new ideas as they hit.

From their debut album, Maps and Diagrams (2017) up till their recent singles The Fight (Round 2) and Ocean, Battle Bloom has been adventurous in experimenting different sounds and densities—from acoustic vibes to heavier set-ups—all while balancing the intimacy in each song.

Their latest single ‘Ocean’ is accompanied by a music video which was filmed in Korea documenting their travels on the band’s first international tour.
