Benjamin Josif - Singer/Songwriter
With a husky voice that would fit a more weathered face, Benjamin’s vocals add depth to the stories and narratives that weave through his lyrics.
Born in the West Country of England, he developed a soulful rasp reminiscent of Ray Lamontagne and was inspired by established songsmiths from the 60’s and 70’s, through to the lyricism of Josh Ritter, Andrew Bird and others alike.
His debut “The Sun Shone Through The Trees” was released in 2013, and accompanied by performances in West Country venues like the Cavern, Mama Stones and the Colston Hall.
Following appearances on BBC Radio and other local stations he was later chosen for the BBC Introducing Masterclass.
As well as producing his own releases he has collaborated on other projects for use in TV, Film and Advertising.
The 2019 E.P. “Shackles and Chains” channelled his trademark vocals into the dark country influences of Gothic Americana.
His latest offering, “Fiesta”, is an EP set to be released on March 1st 2021.
It features songs about the conflict between love and duty, the fight against passing time, the lonely in lockdown, and the desire to keep moving through life.
