Benson Taylor is an alternative British composer & record producer. A musical alumnus of the University of California, Los Angeles, he operates between his studios based in Los Angeles, Yorkshire & Tuscany. Benson recently scored Paul Leyden’s ‘Chick Fight’, an Amazon Original starring Malin Akerman, Bella Thorne & Alec Baldwin. In addition to the score, he co-wrote & produced original songs for the film with GRAMMY nominated, Bones UK.
In 2018 he wrote the soundtrack for the film adaptation of the Martin Amis thriller, London Fields. directed by Mathew Cullen & starring Billy Bob Thornton, Amber Heard, Cara Delevingne, and Johnny Depp.
Benson founded his label, A Remarkable Idea, a sub label with Universal Music Group in 2017. He has co-written with and produced artists including Wu Tang Clan, Bloc Party, Maxïmo Park, Bat For Lashes, The New Mastersounds, Bo Ningen, Alex Maas (The Black Angels), Pulled Apart By Horses, Meshell Ndegeocello, Temples’ James Bagshaw, MOBO winning Kairos 4tet, Menace Beach, Robot Koch, Good Charlotte’s Billy Martin, & GRAMMY award winning Cee Lo Green.
Benson won ‘Best Original Music’ for his first feature film score, Fear of Water, at the Monaco International Film Festival in 2014, and he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for his services to music in 2017.
