In 1963 BD left CA, journeying through Europe, N. Africa, the Mid-East & India - ultimately living in the Himalayas as a hermit-sadhu. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi gave him the holy name of Ram & Swami Chaitanya Prakashananda Tirth gave him fierce tapas. In 1965 after 1yr of fasting, prayer & intense purification BD met his Sat Guru Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji) who he lived with for 6yrs. Maharaji sent BD to Anandamayi Ma for Divine Mother initiation, Lama Kalu Rinpoche for Mahamudra transmission, Dudjom Rinpoche for Clear Light of Primordial Awareness, the 16th Karmapa for Vajra Yogini transmission, & Yogi Chen in Kalimpong. At Boudhanath Stupa, BD met Richard Alpert who became Ram Dass after BD brought him to Maharaji. In the 1980s Amma re-initiated BD. In 2018 Maharaji's Grace led Bhagavan Das HOME to the Divine Mother Amulya Maa, his precious Beloved Wife, who guides him in Bodhichitta with her crystal clarity, ancient wisdom & pure Love. Bhagavan Das published the book "It's Here Now, Are You?" in 1997. He has many CDs not listed yet here, so BD & Amulya Maa are in the process of digitizing all of his music & gathering it all in one place.
