Black Band Shirt is a Blackened Punk studio project helmed by USBM veteran, Breno Sullivan (Druid MA). The concept on paper for Black Band Shirt was to take Depressive Suicidal Black Metal music and make it as pop rock as it could be; blending elements from pop punk, post-hardcore, post-punk, emo, shoegaze and just common radio rock. The end result being something no one should enjoy: too bubblegum pop for esoteric underground metal fans and too harsh, reverb-drenched and strange for popular music listeners. Not quite Black Metal, not quite Black and Roll, not quite Screamo and not quite Blackgaze, Black Band Shirt pulls from all of Sullivan’s vast musical appreciations from these genres and more to create something still heavy, still gazey, still harsh, but wholly unique in its own character vocally and instrumentally.
