Formed in 2020 in Philadelphia but since transplanted to Belfast as of 2022, Blue Deputy began as a low-key bedroom-bound pandemic project which has grown to be so much more. Their self-produced debut single “New Jersey” gained the project a cult following online, with fans drawn to its sparse, beautiful melody and Andy Bunting’s crushing lyrical vulnerability.
The current lineup of Andy Bunting (vocals and guitar), Caoilfhinn McFadden (bass) and Cathal Francis (guitar and vocals) now work to combine the sparkling twang of the band’s American midwest emo roots with elements of folk rock and bedroom pop, with soaring slide guitar, danceable bass lines, and lush harmonies.
