Hollon became a DJ in 1994 while attending college in Cincinnati. Three years later, Mush records released Circle, Boom Bip's full-length collaboration with Doseone. The album was highly experimental work that tested the boundaries of hip-hop and gradually accumulated a cult following.
Boom Bip's proper solo albums feat collaborations and remixes with Buck 65, <a href="spotify:artist:5sEAp7hSgvYjKIEd9r2zBc" data-name="Doseone">Doseone</a>, Boards of Canada, <a href="spotify:artist:7eKIP3IoPoUAZgZuvMM6hf" data-name="Venetian Snares">Venetian Snares</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:34UhPkLbtFKRq3nmfFgejG" data-name="Mogwai">Mogwai</a>, and others. John Peel invited Boom Bip to record two Peel Sessions and referred to his first album, Circle, as a “modern day Captain Beefheart.
Hollon created Neon Neon, a project with <a href="spotify:artist:0dLSQG3IV62UNVhWUe6mx6" data-name="Gruff Rhys">Gruff Rhys</a>. The duo released full-length Stainless Style and Praxis Makes Perfext, a fascinating collection of '80s throwback electro and new wave that was loosely inspired by the life of car designer John DeLorean and publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. Stainless Steel earned a nomination for the 2008 Mercury Music.
Most recently he has formed, Belief, with Stella Mozgawa.
