KILN construct radiantly textured soundfields that envelop and immerse the listener in a panoramic smudge of chromatic rhythms and syncopated tones. Collaborating since the early 90’s, Kevin Hayes, Kirk Marrison, and Clark Rehberg III have released music on Roomtone, Thalassa, Alley Sweeper, and Infraction. In the early aughts, KILN ultimately signed to Ghostly International for a panoply of releases; ‘Sunbox’ in 2004, ‘Vaporbend’ EP in 2007, ‘Dusker’ also in 2007, ‘meadow:watt’ in 2013, ‘Astral Welder’ in 2020, and finally ‘Tungsten’ in 2021. Subsequently, a remastered version of their 1998 album ‘Holo’ was released by the reissue specialists Keplar in 2023. With their eighth album ‘Lemon Borealis’, and first for label A Strangely Isolated Place, KILN expands upon the long-explored themes of mosaic texture, subtle melancholy, eroded consonance, and vivid cadence to reveal yet another aperture to their unique magnetic universe.
