BRANT is a Toronto-based artist who released his debut EP, "All In Your Head", in October 2016. Produced by Matthew Vlahovich of Canadian group Young Empires, the album features 5 melodic alt/pop tracks with lush soundscapes and anthemic choruses. At the core, BRANT is singer/songwriter Tyler Schwende who's pristine vocals have the ability to channel both powerful soaring notes and intricate subtlety. This dichotomy is also depicted lyrically throughout the album - light and dark, yin and yang, the battle between each side of the brain. BRANT on the EP and new single 'Heart of the City' sonically weaves you through an organic and electronic instrumentation mash up that balances each other in unique symmetry.
The artist identity BRANT is in fact Schwende’s middle name and began first as a writing experiment for placement in film and TV but soon became much more. The conception came in the fall of 2016 where after a 2 year hiatus from releasing new original material decided to embark on a different musical path. The new sound that emerged was one inspired by modern alternative artists like Bastille, BORNS & Imagine Dragons but infused with traces of 70s soul and 80s electro. Prior to the break, Schwende had seen traction under several projects with accomplishments that included songs licensed on shows such as Degrassi, a Canadian tour and spins on terrestrial radio. Recent successes include placements on TV shows like Heartland and Kim’s Convenience.
