Brunt of It

Brunt of It formed in 1995 from the ashes of California Ska-Punk legends Hoodlum Empire. Singer and founder Boofish took the band back home to Newport, RI and 30 years later it’s still kicking with members 50/50 from RI and MA in a magical place known as Rhodachusetts. Grinding away playing shows anywhere from a DIY punk rock basement show to a large music venue playing alongside national and international acts in the ska, punk, reggae, hardcore and rock worlds, Brunt of It have always shined as an engaging, fun, loud, and energetic live band! As of 2025, the band (Boofish alongside long standing members Nicrob, Brian Riendeau, Jape All, Tony Gemba & Chris Mitchell) dropped their most beloved and positively reviewed album to date- Its a Mad, Bad, Sad, Rad World on Chicago’s Jump Up Records! It perfectly blends their signature distorted and dissonant old school surfy ska-core/ punk rock sounds with more mature and unique writing approaches, all the while really taking their time in the studio to perfect the songs at their own studio The Murder Shack in Plainville, Ma. They also recorded parts of the album with best bud and A Wilhelm Scream member Trevor Reilly at his studio Anchor End in New Bedford, MA. Catch Brunt of it live and you will not regret it!
