Brussels based pop singer songwriter BRYN (Bree Mugande) has quite the story behind her. The 18 year old Rwandese refugee followed her dreams into the music world against the advice of her teachers and parents, who wanted to push her into academic studies. She moved a lot growing up before settling in the country he now calls home. Influenced by artists like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and the young star Greyson Chance, she started writing songs in 2011 and in 2013, whilst living in an asylum seeker center and she taught herself how to play guitar on the Internet. She regularly played her compositions to her friend there who used to call her “The Brain” as a way to encourage her in this passion: that’s how the project BRYN (pronounced “brain”) was born. Later on, the same person gave her his old synthesizer on which BRYN wrote her debut EP “middle 8”.
