Hailing from the current epicenter of rap, Atlanta, Georgia, Caleb Colossus is nothing short of a breath of fresh air to the current hip-hop landscape. The 29 year old Atlanta native is rap in its purest form— raw emotion, peak lyricism, passion, storytelling, and conceptuality all wrapped together in one. Caleb has had one of the most unusual introductions into the music industry— a former collegiate football player who graduated college and months later, was thrust into the global spotlight after finishing as a semi-finalist on the first season of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow and dropping his hit single “Michelangelo.” He is truly a fine artist at heart and claims the theme for his debut EP “When Paints Smears” to be Renaissance art and his life-long love of drawing and painting. His recent album “When the Credits Roll” released in November 2022, is a haven for film-buffs. Each song on the album is named after a film he loves and the entire project takes on the theme of the movie while outlining his life post-reality television. Lord Loss (as many call him) attributes his biggest musical inspiration to the likes of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, J.Cole, and fellow Atlanta natives, Outkast, but if you were to ask a fan: “Who does Caleb Colossus remind you of?” You’d probably get a different answer from everyone. And rightfully so.
