Cartoon Theory is an independent instrumental project from France, founded in 2009 by Maxime Lathière — drummer, producer and “Abletonneer.” Blending electronic textures, progressive metal and cinematic sound design, Cartoon Theory crafts a hybrid and emotional universe that bridges the gap between technical precision and poetic depth.
Since 2018, guitarist and arranger Morgan Thomaso has joined the project, helping shape a sound that’s as intricate as it is immersive — from futuristic grooves to ethereal harmonies.
Over the years, Cartoon Theory has collaborated with some of the most respected names in the modern progressive scene, including <a href="spotify:artist:3Gs10XJ4S4OEFrMRqZJcic" data-name="Plini">Plini</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0wQa1N4q3HmLwxqkpVcYhs" data-name="David Maxim Micic">David Maxim Micic</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:14u4KXVp0iXQil79EpxXGc" data-name="The Algorithm">The Algorithm</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0nTXj1LhyRn7HTbgNTuPbM" data-name="Travis Orbin">Travis Orbin</a>, Kubbi, Stephen Taranto, Alt236, Mattrach, Juan Carlos Briceno Sanchez, Adam Bentley aka <a href="spotify:artist:55VxnfPepqDlPeLEr6qhUP" data-name="Absently">Absently</a> from <a href="spotify:artist:4ilweWzFHh6vrr7OOuDcUh" data-name="Arch Echo">Arch Echo</a>, Simon "Medz" Meunier, Mathieu Ricou from <a href="spotify:artist:3y8vqcADc0jrZGhRDRGs1f" data-name="Lizzard">Lizzard</a>, Luke Martin (Plini), Husa Toledo, Clement Bélio.

Always forward-thinking, Cartoon Theory explores the boundaries between digital energy and human emotion — an ongoing journey through sound, color and rhythm.
