Spending his early years in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province before moving to Seoul to study the performing arts, Korean singer and actor Lee Dong-min made his film debut in 2014's My Brilliant Life, with early work in advertising and modeling cosmetics. Having been scouted by Fantagio’s iTeen Boys talent program in 2015, Lee was selected as one of six trainees to form a new boy group, Astro, who were launched with the web series To Be Continued and live performances. The group made their debut with the mini-album Spring Up (2016), which landed at number four on the Gaon Album Chart. With Lee taking the alias of Cha Eun-woo, the six-piece Astro began their career with three seasonal mini-albums (Summer Vibes, Autumn Story, and Winter Dream) released within a year of the group's debut, landing increased domestic and global success with each. Chosen for the roles of "vocalist, visual, and face of the group," Eun-woo played a substantial part on Astro’s first three albums -- All Light (2019), All Yours (2021), and Drive to the Starry Road (2022) -- all of which landed at the number one spot on the Gaon Albums Chart. His acting talent secured him notable roles on television in shows like Gangnam Beauty (2017), Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019), and A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023), along with a plethora of web dramas and hosting roles at the Dream Concert, the KBS Song Festival, and the Golden Disc Awards. He was also the recipient of notable award shows, including the Rising Star Award (2018 Asia Artist Awards), the Rookie Award (2020 SBS Entertainment Awards), and the Popularity Star Award, and he was nominated for Best New Actor at the 2023 Blue Dragon Series Awards.
Having built an audience of millions with Astro and his acting career, Cha Eun-woo announced his solo debut with the 2024 mini-album ENTITY. Helmed by the lead single “Stay,” the five-track set combined light-hearted pop and tender balladry into a showcase of his vocal abilities. ~ David Crone, Rovi
