“CHALICE” was given life on April 1, 1980, in the Gibraltar Hills of St. Mary, Jamaica. Seven young, talented musicians of diverse social and musical backgrounds pooled their resources to develop a fresh, new, pop-oriented reggae sound in the prime of the Bob Marley Era. Original members were Robby Peart, Wayne Armond, Irvin “Allah” Lloyd, Keith “Papa” Francis, Trevor Roper, Desi Jones and Michael Wallace.

In the 1990’sChalice cemented its hold and continued to dominate the Jamaican and international charts with the classical inspired hit, Dance Hall Monic, which was a breakthrough piece combining classical elements with a hardcore dance hall rhythm from the 1990 Album of the Year, “Si Mi Ya”. But the 90’s also proved to be the most transformational for the band. In 1991, band members Trevor Roper (lead vocals) and Rolando “Phanso” Wilson (drummer), migrated to the USA. In 1999, Michael Wallace was tragically shot and killed near his home in Jamaica. The Chalice family was distraught and did not record or perform in Jamaica again until 2007. The band has played sparingly since then and other members have unfortunately passed on during this time. In 2019 band leader Wayne Armond migrated to the USA.

Jump to the present and we find Wayne Armond joining forces with Chalice drummer from the 1990’s, Rolando “Phanso” Wilson to rebuild the Chalice Band, bringing back the brash, playful and entertaining energy.
