Channel Zero has been a defining force in European metal since their formation in Brussels in 1990. Fronted by Franky "DSVD" De Smet Van Damme (vocals), with Xavier Carion (guitar), Phil Baheux (Phil B.) (drums), and Tino DeMartino (bass), the band quickly carved out a reputation for their crushing riffs, relentless live energy, and uncompromising sound.Their self-titled debut in 1992 launched a career that soon carried them beyond Belgium’s borders, building a devoted following throughout Germany and across Europe. On the road, Channel Zero shared stages with legends such as Danzig, Megadeth, Body Count (Ice-T), Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses.
After disbanding for several years, Channel Zero made a massive comeback in 2010. The band sold out six nights at Brussels’ famed Ancienne Belgique (AB) in just a single day. Reinforced by the arrival of Mikey Doling (Snot, Soulfly) on guitar, the lineup was reborn. Tragedy struck in 2013 with the sudden passing of drummer Phil Baheux, but the group pressed forward with Seven Antonopoulos (ex-Opiate For The Masses) behind the kit, honoring Phil’s spirit while pushing the music into new territory.Proving their comeback was no mere nostalgia act, Now, more than three decades since their formation, Channel Zero has announced that their final chapter will close at Brussels’ Ancienne Belgique in December 2026. These farewell shows will mark the end of an era—a powerful goodbye from Belgium’s finest in metal.
