CHES is an unconventionally catchy, indie pop rock band from Belgium, more specifically based in(between the towers of) Bruges and Ghent. The songs resonate from the endlessly chaotic mind, fiery heart and slightly tormented soul of Chesney Vermeulen (hence, the nickname Ches). A scatterbrain, famously unknown for his eclectic mindset and his fondness for clichés, nostalgia, quirkiness, guilty pleasures, hidden gems, catchy pop with no boundaries, colourfulness and... ultimately losing trains of thought. Together with drummer Valentin and bassist Tijmen, the sound that emerges, is CHES.
For lovers of Beck, The Strokes, The Flaming Lips, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Gotye, Arcade Fire and so, so, so many more. We can't actually begin to describe where the inspiration comes from, it just hits us in the face while we go.
