Chisato Kusunoki

Chisato Kusunoki is celebrated for her lyrical intensity and subtle virtuosity. Her performances are inspired by composer-pianists like Rachmaninoff, Godowsky, and Medtner, earning her praise from The Times for her "fleet and supple fingers" and musical depth.

Chisato studied Music at Oxford University, where she was awarded the prestigious Gibbs Prize in performance, and completed her postgraduate diploma with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music. She has won numerous accolades, including a prize at the Newport International Competition for Young Pianists, and has performed at renowned venues such as the South Bank Centre, Wigmore Hall, and internationally.

As an active chamber musician, Chisato has collaborated with the Allegri String Quartet and has been featured on BBC Radio 3. Her extensive repertoire ranges from early keyboard masters to contemporary composers, with a particular focus on late romantic works, especially those of Nikolai Medtner. Committed to contemporary music, she has premiered and recorded works by prominent composers like Ronald Stevenson, David Hackbridge Johnson, and Murad Kazhlaev.
