There’s a unifying theme among the most progressive tracks that Drake, Childish Gambino. J.Cole, Earl Sweatshirt, and Vince Staples have released in the last decade: the musical duo behind their production, Christian Rich. Innovative beats produced by twins Kehinde and Taiwo Hassan have been gracing albums by the biggest names in hip hop since 2001. The creatives’ strength lay in their flexibility, which enables them to engineer sounds that compliment each artists' unique strengths. After years spent in New York, Atlanta and LA, the duo now call Berlin home.
The Chicago born, Nigeria raised brothers started their journey as musical entrepreneurs back in 2001. Their ambition and talent led them to produce for Lil Kim, Foxy Brown and The Clipse shortly thereafter. Success on all fronts pushed them to their first self produced solo single, “Famous Girl” in 2009. Their then manager, Shay Hayley (N.E.R.D), alerted Pharrell Williams of their skill, who called them in to finish Diddy’s Last Train to Paris album. After earning a Grammy nomination for Child Gambino’s Because the Internet in 2013, the duo produced the LP, FW14. As known proponents of the cutting edge, Christian Rich combined forces with Jaden Smith to produce his career solidifying track “Ghost”, earning Christian Rich their first Gold selling single (500,000). The following year Christian Rich masterminded the animated video award winning sequel “Shibuya (Ghost II)” with Smith, Belly and Vic Mensa.
