Christos Barbas

Ney & piano player, improviser & composer Christos Barbas is one of the most multifaceted and creative musicians coming from Greece, based in Barcelona. From the age of 7 he studied recorder, piano, harmony counterpoint and fugue. He studied Musicology and Ethnomusicology (Mmus) in Thessaloniki and London - SOAS. He focuses on the study of Ney and Sufi music while he performs in the most varied contexts from classical, traditional to free improvisation and jazz with the ney and piano.

He composes extensively for dance, theater, cinema and has recorded 9 albums with original music.
